Airdigital - Zgemma H7 6.3 image
Today's drivers, still in test phase but everything seems more or less fine and Kodi works.
Nice job Zgemma!

OK, some E2iStream feedback, with my thanx to Codermik, once again!!!

Thanx to iStream/Codermik's link for compiling, E2iStream is now offered inside PurE2 > MENU > Plugins > green button > Extensions and it comes with almost everything that is required for it automatically installed, with only 3-4 additional files installed on first start. Do not worry if you can't update it, as it may be the latest version... Make sure you configure it so buffer and cache go to USB stick and downloading to HDD respectively.

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=13202

If it isn't in PurE2 > MENU > Plugins > Extensions already, as in "after a SW update", please issue the following commands in PuTTy to get it:

opkg update

opkg upgrade

sync

reboot

Then, go to Plugins and install via remote controller...

Or manual install:

opkg install enigma2-plugin-extensions-e2istream

(latest version is 2019.10.24).

NOTA BENE - please, ignore the following error:

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=13203

PurE2 - thanx to Delfi - now has FFmpeg 4.2.1 (the first in the world, as usual! :12_small35: :EV3584~124: :EV012E~133: ), so this test was doubly interesting to see what, if anything, would work with E2iStream, Kodi, Ciefp's channel list, incuding IPTV channels and some films, series etc. streaming (mkv, mp4 etc. links) etc. etc.

Prerequisites: Service App is installed and Exteplayer3 is active.

Results:

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=13204

I.e. in E2iStream Exteplayer3 is not working with FFmpeg 4.2.1 but External gstplayer (no buffering needed most of the time) IS working, as you will see below! I tested lots of stuff and aplenty of those plugins offered are working just fine!

Here is my quick report to Delfi (just a few parts of our Skype conversation):

UK normal address - BBC iPlayer is working fully! ITV partially...

YouTube is cool:

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=13205

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=13206

With VPN active:
"Andrija & Andjelka" is working but with External Gstplayer
("Dom za vesanje" in Films is working! First time it stopped with ext gstplayer but then it worked!)
OK, in sports section some things are working...
"Our match", for instance.
"Red bull" is working in E2iStream.
"Laola" is working!
"TSiPlayer" has Bein etc.ESPN USA is opening... finally found valid links.... :P
Ha! "123Movies" is working inside TSiPlayer...
"Streamlord" is working there > "Joker" is going!
"Vidlink.org" in English section is working!
"Vumoo.to" is working.
Call me old-fashioned but these guys are active... ;)
"TSiPlayer" works in many places... ;)
"YIFY" inside E2iStream is working.
"18+" section (XXX) is working.
"Classic cinema" is working.
"Filmaon" is working.
"Filmativa.ws" is working!
"filmstreamhd.it" is working.
"Icefilms" seems OK, even.... :P I found "Flash" working...
"Movie4k.org" works!
"123Movies" works... Last 3 "kinda working" (fast test)...

And so on and on... Kodi is fine, too, hehe!

Codermik, again, thanx a bunch and keep up the good work!!! :)

Added CPU control for OSmio4k/plus.
MENU→System→CPU Control

Why:

These boxes are by default setup to run at MAX speed all the time, which is fine and ok, especially for benchmarks. It is somewhat similar to running your car at max revs or a PC/laptop in souped up/game mode. It is not necessarily a bad thing, especially on low power ARM boxes, but linux kernel is pretty clever about demands set upon SoC/CPU, so why not use it.
Benefits are not earth shattering, but can make one feel a bit better; lower temp, voltage, longer life, decent thing to do, etc... Electricity bill might be reduced by an Euro or two per annum, but I hope that is not the point :)

What and How:
MAX CPU frequency is the top range (normally, non overclocked) available on your box.
MIN CPU frequency is the bottom range available on your box.
Scaling governor determines what happens and how between the above ranges.

Here is a very **brief** modus operandi of the governors:

performance -- Run the CPU at the maximum frequency.
powersave -- Run the CPU at the minimum frequency.
userspace -- Run the CPU at user specified frequencies.
ondemand -- Scales the frequency dynamically according to current load. Jumps to the highest frequency and then possibly back off as the idle time increases.
conservative -- Scales the frequency dynamically according to current load. Scales the frequency more gradually than ondemand.

By default, OSmios4K run all the time @1.5GHz, which is really not needed in 95% of the tasks, including DVB-S/T/C operation, as well as with ‘normal’ streams watching --> works well @300MHz

TEST option shows changes in live data, but note that temperature is based on some sensor on the SoC, not really in the CPU itself (the difference is usually quite larger), voltage is based on recent averages, etc.

In short, without tech bla-bla:
Set Scaling governor to **conservative** or **ondemand** and be happy.
If running your box in really hot environment, one might consider lowering MAX CPU frequency.

Funny thing is that OSmio4Ks run decently in powersave mode (300MHz) as well, except that E2 restart takes more time, streaming channel to other boxes might be a bit of pain…

HiSilicon boxes already have this fine tune option, but it will be updated soon with more stuff.

Same as the above for HiSilicon based boxes.
Some of them run voll gas as well, now one can check it. Live, real-time (or averaged) voltage is not available on some boxes. As above, if I'm not missing something big in HiSilicon world, it might be worth to set governor to 'conservative' or a bit more nervous, but more responsive - 'ondemand'.
Hope it helps.
In a way it is a bit strange that a few years back there was need to overclock boxes (either via bootloader or other means) and now, with multi core SoCs/CPUs it make sense to go in a somewhat other direction :)

NOTE:
for **some ** Dinobot based boxes it might be needed to remove the obsolete "enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-dinofrq" .
opkg remove --force-depends enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-dinofrq
opkg update
opkg upgrade

...or just refalsh the image and restore backupt seetings.

Next issue on our target list is WiFI Access Point for the boxes where it makes sense. Initial tests seem promising.

Some sort of "proof of concept", soon in the OSmio4k/plus feeds.
It is still deep beta, but initial test are ok. Speeds beyond 500 Mb/S seem stable + very low impact on the system, well, except temp.

For a history zap, option was added to reverse the list of channels used in recent past.
MENU ---> Setup ---> System ---> Keyboard/RC ---> Button Setup: "History list inverted" entry

Just a reminder;
In the same place you can set "History buttons mode" from default, reasonably fast "service name only" to "Show menu" which includes EPG data. Default setting is more suited for those with a motor or multi LNB dish, as big EPGs (10-20MB epg.dat) can slow down history menu.

Dinobot based boxes (Anadol, Axas, Izibox...) received driver update said to improve AV sync, streaming, stalker, etc. It seemed ok to me even before this :)
